Lash Lift FAQs

Is Lash Lifting Damaging To The Lashes?

Lash lifting works by breaking down and reforming the natural disulfide bonds in the lash so they can be reshaped. If performed incorrectly, damage can occur. Common causes include:

  • Over-processing the solution time, which prevents bonds from reforming correctly.
  • Applying lotion to the lash tips instead of just the base, causing unnecessary stress to the ends.

Elleebana’s lifting lotions contain lanolin, which adds moisture and nourishment during the process to help soften and protect the lashes.

What Can I Do If My Client’s Lashes Haven’t Lifted Enough?

  • Check the product expiry date and storage conditions.
  • Consider the client’s genetic hair structure or ethnicity, which may require a longer processing time.
  • Ensure the lotion is applied evenly and thickly, coating each lash up to 3/4 of its length. Patchy application leads to uneven lifts.

What If One Eye Hasn’t Lifted As Much As The Other?

Some clients naturally have a stronger lash direction on one eye. To correct this:

  • Note this in the client’s record and process the stronger eye slightly longer during future services.
  • Remember that timing matters — lash lifting can be affected by as little as 30 seconds.
  • Check lash placement: lashes must be symmetrically aligned on rods. Taking a reference photo before lifting can help with alignment.
  • Use adhesive carefully — too much can create a barrier between the lash and solutions.

I’m Allergic To Lash Extension Adhesives. Can I Have A Lash Lift?

Most reactions to lash extension adhesive are caused by exposure to cyanoacrylate. Elleebana lash lift products do not contain cyanoacrylate, so the chance of a reaction is slim. However, a patch test is always recommended for sensitive clients.

Can I Remove Lash Extensions And Do A Lift In The Same Treatment?

The short answer: no. While Elleebana products have tested safely within our own range, other brands may differ in glue, removers, or primers. Unsafe lash extensions applied elsewhere may leave natural lashes weak or damaged. Lifting compromised lashes risks further breakage.

For safety, lash lifts should only be performed after extensions are removed and a lash health assessment has been completed.

What If Lashes Change Direction After 24 Hours?

This can happen for a few reasons:

  • Aftercare not followed: exposure to heat, steam, water, eye creams, or serums in the first 24 hours.
  • Product not rinsed thoroughly during the service.
  • Lashes not dried completely before the client left — wet lashes are weighed down and may settle incorrectly.

Always ensure lashes are fully rinsed and dried to reveal the true result.

What Can I Do If Lashes Are Over-Processed Or Damaged?

  • Use the relaxation method to reduce excessive curl and reset the lash shape.
  • Recommend Elleeplex Advanced Aftercare Serum to condition, nourish, and support healthy lash growth.
  • Encourage clients to consider a hair health supplement with ingredients like Silica, Horsetail, Biotin, and Vitamin C for internal lash support.

Can Clients Wear Mascara?

Yes! Clients can wear Elleevate Mascara immediately after their lift (and remove with Elleebana Makeup Remover at night). If using other mascaras, wait at least 24 hours post-lift. Remind clients to replace mascara every 3 months to prevent bacteria buildup and eye infections.

When Should Clients Rebook For Their Next Lash Lift?

Lash lifts typically last 6–8 weeks, but timing varies based on lash growth cycles:

  • Fast lash growers: may need a new lift every 4 weeks.
  • Average clients: about 6 weeks between lifts.
  • Slow growers: may only need lifts every 8–10 weeks.

If tinting is included, a tint refresh may be recommended at 6 weeks.
